Befriending and Support Services

  • 'Call In' & Home Visits »
  • Our 'Call In' service is our most popular service as it has the biggest impact. 'Call In' is exactly what it says; we visit the service user at home offering companionship and conversation. This simple act can make a real difference to our service users quality of life. Visiting them at their home provides them with social interaction and friendship.

    The Home Visit service is an extension of the 'Call In' service, giving the primary carer (partner, neighbour, friend or relative) the opportunity to take some time for themselves out of the care environment to recharge leaving their loved one in our capable hands.

  • Night Service »
  • We offer an all night service where we will stay at the service users home to monitor and support them to ensure they feel safe and have a peaceful night's sleep.

  • Meal Preparations »
  • We will support the service user in preparing and making their meals. We will assist them and encourage them if it is required. If we make food for them we will only use food that they have in their home.

  • Domestic Maintenance »
  • Basic maintenance of the home can become difficult if the upkeep is not done regularly i.e. putting up curtains, changing light bulbs, replacing batteries etc. We can assist you or do these jobs for you.

  • Gardening Service »
  • Having a neat garden to sit in can be fantastic therapy but keeping on top of the weeds can be a struggle. HaywardBefriending offers a service that covers the up keep and maintenance of your garden. We can do this with the service user or on their behalf using their gardening tools or our own.

  • Shopping Assistance »
  • This gives the service user the opportunity to be more mobile and feel a part of the community. Whether it is for necessity/grocery shopping or casual enjoyable shopping, we would accompany the service user on their shopping trip. Depending on the distance to their desired shopping location, this could be either walking with the service user or driving them to and from their destination.

  • Shopping For You »
  • To take away the hassle and stress of doing regular shopping, or should you become unwell, we would carry out any shopping requirements needed. You provide the list and we'll do the rest.

  • Support with Housework »
  • We will assist the service user with cleaning duties such as dusting, vacuuming, cleaning of the kitchen and bathroom areas etc. If the service user is unable to participate we will do these tasks on their behalf, using the products that they use regularly, we won't however use any toxic labelled products.

    We will assist the service user with all washing and ironing requirements... Our aim is to encourage and support the service user in doing these tasks but if they are unable to we can on their behalf.

  • Appointment Transportations »
  • Getting to and from appointments can be a worry and could make you feel a burden on family members. HaywardBefriending aim to take away these worries by accompanying the service user to and from any appointments they have with an option for us to wait if required.

  • Appointment Arranging »
  • HaywardBefriending has links with other businesses in the community and are happy to arrange on our service users behalf, appointments with Mobile Hairdressers, Gardeners etc. We are also happy to assist with arranging Doctors, Dentists, Chiropodists and Opticians if required.

  • Hospital Visits »
  • Hospital Visits is a service we feel is unique to HaywardBefriending. If the service user were to be admitted to hospital for any length of time, we would regularly visit them in the hospital. Whether it is for a few days or a longer stay, we will still be there to provide support.

  • Gentle Exercise/Accompanied Walks »
  • This service is aimed to keep the service user active. We will support and encourage them to keep active. It may be a walk round the garden, around the block or to the local park. We would also be willing to accompany the service user to group activities of their choice.

  • Social Activities »
  • Maintaining a service users involvement in the community or in social gatherings is very important to us, so we offer an accompanied service. Whatever your hobby or interest we can assist you. Be it Ballroom Dancing, Bingo, Art & Crafts or attending the Theatre we will be more than happy to accompany you.

  • Accompanied Holidays »
  • From a short break to a week's holiday, HaywardBefriending are able to travel with and support the service user in taking a break for up to a week's holiday. This is subject to the health & well being of the service user. They must be medically fit to travel. This service is aimed at those wanting to take a break, but require assistance/company during their holiday. Our aim will be to ensure the service user has a memorable holiday.

  • Pet Service »
  • HaywardBefriending can support you or on behalf of another with looking after your family pet. We can walk your pet, stay in with your pet and we would be happy to accompany you both to those important vet visits.

  • Support with Correspondence »
  • Sometimes people need support with writing letters, cards, completing forms etc. Government documents can be challenging for most people so we can provide support with these tasks, from helping you compose a letter to filling out those complicated benefit forms and posting them.

  • Support with Computer Skills »
  • In today's world people are more reliant on communication via the internet and e-mail. We have staff that are computer literate and able to assist, guide and teach these basic computer skills.

  • End of Life Service »
  • Our end of life service offers support to loved ones and carers' of those who are nearing the end of their life. This service ensures that the right level of support and sensitivity is carried out when carers and loved ones are in need of respite.

Bookings and Service Times

Please note that all our services have a minimum booking of 1 hour.

The Initial Assessment Visit will be free of charge and all you're needs discussed.

Service Users will be given a choice of a free courtesy call on a regular basis (Frequency to be discussed and agreed) whether a friendly chat is required or a service review we are here for you.
